About the Surgeon

A specialist's decade, spent almost entirely inside one organ.

Dr. Vipin Kumar Pal Singh operates at the intersection of liver transplantation, hepato-pancreatico-biliary surgery, and minimal access and robotic technique. In nine years of practice, he has been part of hundreds of complex GI-HPB cases — including more than 500 liver transplants — each one built on the same premise: the liver is remarkably capable of recovery, when a patient is given the right surgical chance.

He currently practises at the Chandan Institute of Liver Transplant & HPB Surgery in Lucknow, following consultant roles at BLK-MAX Hospital, New Delhi, and Paras Hospital, Gurugram.

How He Practises

A quiet approach to a heavy diagnosis

Liver disease arrives with fear attached. The practice is built to meet that directly.

01

Explain before deciding

Every scan and lab value is walked through in plain terms before a treatment path is chosen — patients leave the first consultation understanding their own case, not just the plan for it.

02

Operate only when it earns its risk

Minimal access and robotic technique are used wherever they genuinely reduce trauma and recovery time — not as a default, but as a judgment made case by case.

03

Stay through the recovery

A transplant doesn't end at discharge. Long-term follow-up and monitoring are treated as part of the surgery itself, not an afterthought.

The Liver's Gift

It is the one organ built to give itself a second chance.

Remove up to seventy percent of a healthy liver, and within weeks it can rebuild itself close to its original size — a capacity unique among human organs. It is what makes living-donor transplantation possible at all: a donor's liver regrows, and so, in time, does the portion transplanted into the recipient.

Surgery doesn't replace that ability. It simply clears the way for it — removing disease, restoring blood flow, giving healthy tissue room to do what it already knows how to do.
